Patrick E. Heintz was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and graduated form Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from Central Michigan University in three and one-half years, he attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School, in Lansing, Michigan. He graduated second in his law school class and received his Juris Doctorate degree, magna cum laude January 20, 1980. Mr. Heintz was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, the Order of the Barristers and Cooley Law School's National Moot Court Team. He also received the American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Procedure for outstanding performance in that area. He is a member of the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim County Bar Association and served as chairman of the Law Day Committee. He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Heintz is admitted to practice in all Michigan courts and the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan.. His extensive civil trial experience includes serving as lead counsel in some of the most significant and complex multi-party civil litigation in northern Michigan. In addition to general practice and commercial litigation, areas of emphasis in his practice include negligence, domestic relations, oil and gas, environmental and zoning.

Mr. Heintz' community involvement in the Grand Traverse area commenced with the Jaycees in 1981 and continued with Gladhander 1985 (Chairman 1991 and 1992), Leadership Grand Traverse 1987-1988, Grand Traverse Catholic School Board 1988 to 1997 (President 1990-1991) and local organizations including Rotary, Knights of Columbus and the Elks. He was the co-chairman for the 5.5 million dollar Building Futures Together capital campaign to fund construction of the new 49,000 square foot Catholic middle school and in 2002 co-chaired a $300,000 campaign to construct a track and tennis court at the school. He is presently on the Board of Directors for the Grand Traverse Educational Foundation. In 2005, he was honored as the Alumni of the Year for Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart and also received the Madeleine Thomas Award from the Grand Traverse/Antrim/Leelanau Bar Association for community services.
